Today, Catholic Mobilizing Network releases its 2022-2023 Impact Report, outlining just some of the many successes and milestones reached in the past year.
Fiscal Year 2023 marked an important chapter for CMN and its mission to end the death penalty and promote restorative justice. It was a year where CMN learned to harness its growing capacity in order to seize new opportunities, all while steadfastly upholding the organization's grounding principles and core programs.
In the past year, CMN mobilized thousands of individuals to take action to oppose new waves of executions and regressive death penalty legislation. Through new and continued offerings, CMN provided opportunities to meet a growing demand for Catholic restorative justice formation. And each month, CMN continued to gather this community in prayer — an integral part of the work to end the death penalty.
As is detailed in this report, 2022-2023 was a year of exciting endeavors. CMN joined forces with the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network to create a video featuring Pope Francis praying for an end to the death penalty, gathered more than 200 people for the Justice Reimagined Awards & Celebration on World Day Against the Death Penalty, and journeyed with dozens of Catholic ministry leaders from across the country on the second National Catholic Ministry Leaders Lenten Experience in Montgomery, Alabama.
At the close of Fiscal Year 2023, CMN finds itself ready to leverage greater impact than ever before. Executive Director, Krisanne Vaillancourt Murphy, acknowledges that "none of this would have been possible without the prayers, advocacy, and financial support of our allies."
